Ponying Up

Work to Ride uses polo ponies and horsemanship to help inner city kids do something positive with their time.
Young polo players

How awesome is this! I stumbled on to Work To Ride this morning while searching sports and recreation on the net for my blog. Please check out the link to see some pictures of these hard working kids and their polo ponies. The first picture of a young boy playing polo below is from RL Magazine.

Horses were a big part of my life. I started riding when I was 5 yrs old and I am still riding. My pony and quarter horses gave me a sense of pride and responsibility. Competing against other horseman built confidence. Not only was good for my health and fitness, but at times was good physical therapy and helped me when I felt depressed. My horse could always sense my depression and nuzzle me on the cheek and bump me out of it.  So hats off to all these young kids for ambition.
